Skipton has been named among the best places to live in the UK in 2025.
Lifestyle publisher Muddy Stilettos has released a list of the top 300 places and this time has covered “more regions than ever before.”
The Yorkshire category includes ten locations, including Skipton, Harrogate, Ilkley and York.
Speaking about Skipton, Muddy Stilettos writes:
“Skipton (or ‘sheep town’ in Anglo Saxon) often makes the grade on Top 10 lists of not just the best, but happiest places to live in the UK.
“Pretty, lively and friendly, with that twinkling Yorkshire sense of humour, there is plenty to smile about.
“The thriving high street below Skipton Castle and Holy Trinity Church with indie shops and a regular outdoor market brings both locals and tourists flocking, keen to sample the many eateries, pubs and festivals.”
Muddy Stliettos points to Michelin-Starred Angel at Hetton, Grassington House Hotel and Elsworth at the Mill as places particularly deserving of a visit.
The also highlighted Skipton High Street and Craven Court as hotspots for shoppers.
Skipton Castle, Stump Cross Caverns and Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway also received a mention.
Hero Brown, the founder and editor-in-chief of Muddy Stilettos, said:
“When people decide to move, they’re searching for more than just a house - they want a home, a lifestyle that works for them and their family, and if they’re strategic, a long-term investment too.
"Our 2025 ‘Top 300 Best Places To Live’ guide will give them that extra reassurance they need to make their search easier in these difficult economic times.”
