Risk and Governance Nurse for Women, Children and Specialist Services at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Chloe Taylor, has been shortlisted as a finalist for Neonatal Nurse of the Year.
The Neonatal Nurses Association’s award recognises inspirational neonatal nurses who have made an extraordinary difference, whether through supporting colleagues, optimising care for babies or offering comfort and guidance to families.
Chloe, from Eastburn, recently received the RCN Foundation Leathersellers’ Award for Outstanding Achievement in supporting children and young people’s mental health. Her work on trauma-informed care has also been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award.
The work is centred on adopting a care approach that recognises the impact of trauma on an individual’s development and aims to better support the emotional and psychological needs of families during their baby’s stay on the neonatal unit.
On her shortlisting, Chloe said:
“I feel incredibly humbled to have been recognised by the RCN, Nursing Times and now the Neonatal Nursing Association, all within the last 12 months. I am completely shocked.
“This work focuses on what we can do as neonatal staff to help with trauma and builds on the Trauma-Informed Care module I completed at Leeds Beckett University.
“Not only has this approach enhanced care for families, but it has also helped to shift our team culture. We are now more open, reflective and confident in discussing trauma and emotional wellbeing.
“I remain deeply committed to growing this work, continuing to learn and collaborating with others to ensure that no family feels unsupported during their neonatal journey.”
