Steeton Male Voice Choir performed alongside Otley Brass Band at their latest concert.
The concert on Friday 24th October at the King's Hall in Ilkley was well received with Steeton Male Voice Choir, under Musical Director Catherine Sweet, wooing the audience with songs like “Mr Blue Sky” and “Somebody To Love” accompanied by pianist Elaine Dave.
The Otley Brass Band gave the audience a chance to tap with “Abba Goes Brass” and themes from “Wallace and Gromit”.
Both the choir and the band came together with the audience in the finale songs.
Steeton Male Voice Choir, now in its 117 year, is well travelled on the continent and in the UK, and rehearses on Monday nights at 7pm at Steeton Methodist Chapel, and is always recruiting.
Last year the choir sang at the Skipton Music Festival and competed in the choir category and in the male voice choir section and came first.
The choir frequently receives request from schools to visit them and sing and the men are always happy to do this. They love to encourage children to sing and particularly together in a school choir. They will be singing with the Addingham Primary School choir at St. Margaret’s Church, Ilkley on Thursday 11th December at 6.30pm and on the 22nd December the choir will travel to Leeds to sing in the Bexley Wing at St. James Hospital.
