Embsay pub raise over £400 for children's charity

The Elm Tree Inn in Embsay has raised more than four hundred pounds in support of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity.

A total of £405.36 was collected through community fundraising activities, with the money set to support vulnerable families across Yorkshire.

The funds raised will contribute towards food hampers for families taking part in respite breaks provided by the charity.

These breaks are designed to support families facing hardship by offering time away from day-to-day pressures in a safe and supportive environment.

The fundraising was organised by pub managers Sam and Karen, along with their team.

The main event was a community quiz night held in November 2025, which was well attended by local residents.

Further funds were raised in December through the sale of sweets during the pub’s Christmas Eve celebrations.

The partnership was supported by Liz Brewster from Craven Consultancy Services, a patron of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, who introduced the charity to The Elm Tree Inn and assisted with the organisation of the quiz night.

Kerry Magson, Partnerships and Engagement Manager at The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, said:

“We are extremely grateful for the effort and generosity shown by Sam and Karen, their team, and the wider Embsay community.

“The funds raised will provide several families with valuable time to rest, reconnect and spend quality time together.”

The Principle Trust Children’s Charity provides free respite breaks to vulnerable children, young people and families across Yorkshire.
