Skipton Fire Station has announced the return of its Fire Cadets scheme in Skipton this year.
Run by North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, the programme is designed for young people aged 13 to 17 and offers weekly sessions led by fire service staff and volunteers.
Cadets learn practical firefighting skills, take part in community safety projects, and develop teamwork and leadership abilities.
According to North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, several participants have gone on to pursue careers within the fire service.
The scheme also aims to build confidence and resilience among young people while encouraging them to make a positive contribution to their communities.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said:
“Fire Cadets gives young people a unique opportunity to learn life skills, build confidence and gain an insight into the work we do.
"We’ve seen many cadets go on to achieve great things, including joining us as firefighters.”
Those interested can find more information and details on how to apply through the North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service website here.
