A new children’s attraction called The Hidden Castle is preparing to open on Skipton High Street.
Ruth and her parents, Frankie and Greg teamed up to create the immersive experience.
The venue is being developed on the second floor of the old Craven College building, above the town library, which is now part of the Craven Community Hub.
The Hidden Castle is designed as an immersive role-play environment where children can explore life in a medieval castle and village.
The experience will include themed rooms, hidden passages, and interactive spaces filled with artefacts and props.
Children will be able to take part in a wide range of activities, such as training as a knight, casting spells in a wizard’s study, mixing potions in an apothecary, escaping from a dungeon and preparing meals in a medieval kitchen.
Other opportunities include trading in a market, guarding the castle, farming, enjoying a banquet, and discovering a dragon’s cave.
Dressing up in themed costumes such as queens, farmers, or guards will also be part of the experience.
The attraction is aimed at children up to the age of 11, with weekday sessions focused on activities suitable for under-5s.
Alongside the interactive role-play, the venue will include a café for parents and families.
Ruth and her parents started their business with a pop-up role play village in Keighley, and the pop-up gained huge popularity.
The family expanded and moved into a new home for the business in Leeds but only a few months later, Greg sadly passed away in March 2024.
Ruth and her mum returned the business to Keighley and found a permanent home there and eventually opened a sensory room in their new location.
The mother-daughter duo are now expanding to Skipton for their medieval venture.
Ruth said:
"When my mum and I visited the venue, we knew it would be the perfect place to realise my parents dream of opening a medieval themed role-play centre, set with a historic castle.
"This is a completely original idea my parents dreamed up back in 2023".
She continued:
"We are officially set to open in September 2025, and we can't wait to share this next chapter with you all".
The opening date has not yet been announced, but preparations are underway to welcome families from Skipton and beyond once the venue is ready.
