A team of opticians has delivered 60 hi-vis vests to pupils at Embasy Primary School to help them stay safe and seen during the darker months.
The donation coincided with Road Safety Week (16th – 22nd November), the team at Specsavers Skipton wanted to ensure the children had access to gear that would keep them visible and safe.
As the days get darker and the roads to school are rural, this will help reduce safety concerns and provide teachers and parents with peace of mind.
Georgina Hodgson, acting headteacher at Embasy Primary School, said:
"We are incredibly grateful to the team at Specsavers Skipton for their thoughtful donation. The safety of our pupils remains a top priority, and these vibrant hi-vis vests will ensure they are clearly visible whenever they are out and about in the community.
"Whether it's a nature walk, a visit to the local library, or a school trip further afield, these jackets will be a fantastic help."
The vests will be shared across all year groups, ensuring every child benefits from the added safety and visibility.
Pupils have responded with enthusiasm to the new gear, praising the bright colours and fun design.
One Year 4 pupil said:
“They’re really cool – we’ll be easy to spot, and they make us feel like a team!”’
With severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds forecasted to affect the UK this month, the vests arrive at a much-needed time to help children stay visible on their way to and from school, as well as to any seasonal extracurricular activities.
