Skipton Business Improvement District (BID) has announced the success of their application to the High Streets Fund.
The funding will deliver the Buzzing Skipton initiative.
The grant, awarded as part of the Mayor’s multi-million-pound programme to rejuvenate town centres across York and North Yorkshire will support Skipton BID’s mission to enhance the town’s vibrancy, sustainability, and appeal to both residents and visitors.
The Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund was launched by the North Yorkshire Mayor to help towns like Skipton adapt to changing retail landscapes and become more resilient, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable.
Buzzing Skipton is a project designed to energise the high street and enhance public spaces.
It aims to improve the appearance and environment of five overlooked but significant areas of the town and to boost footfall, foster local pride, and ensure Skipton remains a thriving market town well into the future.
Skipton BID Manager, Sarah Howsen, said:

The Artery are working closely with Skipton BID as the lead partner.
The BID also have support from Craven College, Skipton in Bloom, North Yorkshire Culture Team, Craven Arts House, and community groups.
The Artery is a new way of working pioneered in North Yorkshire. It provides a peer support programme for creatives/micro businesses working in rural or isolated areas of North Yorkshire.
The idea for the Buzzing Skipton comes from Skipton-based filmmaker and photographer Ruth Garrett (Ruth Kittiwake) though her work with the Artery.
The Artery artists will contribute design, volunteers on the planting days, artist-led workshops, and art.
Skipton in Bloom is another key partner who deliver the current floral displays across Skipton.
Craven College has also pledged to support the project by building planters, bird feeders and bug hotels.
