Skipton MP meets town council to discuss bus station antisocial behaviour

The local MP for Skipton and Ripon, Sir Julian Smith, has met with Skipton Town Council representatives to discuss a number of issues affecting the town.

The meeting took place on Thursday 15th January and included Skipton Town Mayor, Councillor Winston Feather, and the council’s Chief Officer, Louise Close.

Discussions focused on a range of local matters, including reports of anti-social behaviour at Skipton Bus Station and the impact this is having on residents and local businesses.

Those attending also spoke about the importance of maintaining a safe and welcoming town centre, as well as wider issues such as Skipton’s Town Investment Plan.

Following the meeting, Sir Julian said it had been useful to hear directly from the Town Council about local concerns.

He said:

“It was very helpful to meet with the Mayor and Chief Officer today to discuss the concerns being raised locally.

"Supporting the nationally recognised High Street, combatting anti-social behaviour and ensuring good provision for young people needs continued attention, and I will keep working closely with the Town Council to support efforts on these and other issues.”

The Town Council and local MP said they will continue to work together to address issues affecting Skipton and its communities.
