Accessibility boost as new changing places toilet opens in Malham

A new changing places toilet has opened at the Malham National Park Visitor Centre as part of ongoing work to improve accessibility across the Yorkshire Dales.

The fully accessible facility is specially designed for people with profound disabilities and adds to similar facilities already available at the Grassington National Park Visitor Centre and the Dales Countryside Museum.

With three Changing Places toilets now available across National Park visitor centres, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority says accessibility for visitors and their families has been significantly improved.

The new facility is also part of wider accessibility improvements in the National Park, including the planned introduction of a second all-terrain wheelchair at Malham, which will soon be available for free hire.

Lizzie Bushby, Deputy Chair and Member Champion for Recreation Management at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, said:

“We are proud to now have three fully operational Changing Places toilets at our National Park Visitor Centres.

“We are pushing ahead with our ambition to make as much of the visitor infrastructure in the National Park as accessible as possible.”

The Authority has also recently launched an online Access Hub, designed to help people plan accessible visits to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
