Local housebuilder drops Skipton from name after nearly 40 years

Skipton Properties, which has built around 4,000 homes across Yorkshire and Lancashire since 1986, has announced a rebrand to Verity & Co.

The change has been made in tribute to founder Brian Verity, whose two daughters now lead the Cross Hills-based company.

In a post on the new website, managing director Sarah Barraclough and creative director Caroline van Niekerk, said:

"We’ve thought about taking this step for years, and we’ll admit, it feels a little nerve-racking to finally share it. Mostly though, it feels like a natural reflection of who we are now, and the company we want to keep building together with our team.

"Over the past year, we’ve strengthened our foundations, as a family, as a team, and as a company committed to building with even more care, clarity and purpose.

"Our new name is a tribute to our father, Brian Verity, who built the first homes that set our standards nearly forty years ago. The “& Co” is for our team, the people whose pride, craft and commitment carry his legacy forward.

"Together, the name reflects both where we’ve come from and the future we’re building towards."

Skipton Properties' first project almost 40 years ago was the 100-home Carleton Park development in Skipton. The company was originally based in Skipton before moving to Cross Hills. Mr Verity passed away in April 2022, aged 72.

Recent developments for the firm under the Skipton Properties brand include The Willows and Bolton Gardens in Silsden, The Alders and St Stephen's Place in Skipton, and Parsons Meadow in Addingham.

The company is currently building a 53-home development, The Oaks, off Airedale Avenue in Skipton - as well as working on sites in Oxenhope and Worsthorne.
